About Me

DR SUSAN BARNETT

Who Am I

I am an experienced GP who specialises in providing counselling to individuals, couples and families.  As a GP I have many years experience providing care for individuals and families.   This allows me to understand the whole person (mind and body and) and share my knowledge in a practical and helpful way to clients

As a wife and mother of 3 boys I  understand at a personal level how complex life and  relationships can be.  I am very adamant that all humans  can benefit from having a place to explore their challenges and grow emotionally.

Whilst I provide therapy for a variety of issues,  I have a special interest in eating disorder management and am ANZAED credentialed.  I am passionate in providing a safe, non judgemental, supportive and compassionate space for my clients.

My goal is to help my clients discover their inner wise and compassionate self, which leads to reduced suffering and improved relationships.

Who I See

I see clients from 12 years onwards. I have a special interest in working with clients and their families (or main supports) who are suffering from Eating Disorders. I believe it is crucial to create a cohesive multidisciplinary team that works together to best support the client’s needs.

I also see clients who experience emotional distress for multiple reasons.

I practice patient centred and trauma informed care. I believe it is  important to create a non- judgemental, safe place where my clients can attend and learn to “feel comfortable in working with their uncomfortable”.
